death doula,
author,
podcaster,
and rabble rouser
Laura Collins Lyster-Mensh is an American writer, podcaster, and activist. She has been founding organizations to solve problems all her life, including three international charities. She is the author of four books, and has produced four podcast projects, She is currently active as an end-of-life doula in her service as the Death Doula in residence at Congressional Cemetery in Washington DC and as a volunteer for a DC hospice.
When not needed to save the world she tap dances, studies Greek, digs up ancestry clues, and watches very old movies.* For more on Laura's death doula work, read the January 2023 article in the Washington Post, titled "Dying can be a taboo topic. Enter the death doula” and visit the Congressional Cemetery website. *Hey, TCM: movies from the 60s are not old enough. |
Thank you to the organizers and staff and community of #TEDxGREATMILLS 2024 for the opportunity to "accept, plan for, and talk about death"
